The Peterborough Military History Group is a community of like-minded people, passionate about military history.
Members interests vary from collectors of military memorabilia, to scale modellers and those who are simply interested in the subject and enjoy reading and learning about it.
We are interested in military history from the earliest times up to the modern day and are always keen to welcome new members.
Our Annual Exhibition takes place on Saturday 2nd November 2024. Click Here for Poster
As part of the Group's rebranding we held a promotional day in Cathedral Square on September 28th. Andy Flindall, Andy Lingard and David Gray, 'manned' a display table showcasing a tiny selection of their collections. We spoke to a lot of people stopping by who were curious about the Group, and we passed on details of our membership, meetings and the Exhibition taking place on Saturday 2nd November.
Andy L. brought along some Korean War related items, which seems to be a neglected aspect of military history. Andy F (Group Secretary), who was accompanied by his wife Ash, brought along a Jerry can from his collection and David Gray displayed some borrowed, WWII Home Front items from fellow member Roger Negus's collection. David also brought his own cutaway/sectioned example of a WWI 18 pdr shrapnel Shell.
We will return on Saturday 26th October, a week before our Military Exhibition at the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery. If you are in town, stop by and say hello.

We meet at the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery in Priestgate, Peterborough, PE1 1LF, on the second Wednesday of every month, 7.30pm to 9.00pm. We also hold an annual exhibition at the Museum on one day a year, when members can bring out their collections and show them to the public. Here, we also have the Bargain Stall, where members bring their spare model kits, books and various items from their collections to help in fundraising. This year the exhibition takes place on Saturday 2nd November 2024.
Each meeting includes a guest speaker, sometimes one of our own members, sometimes an invited guest speaker. We have a refreshment stall where tea, coffee and cakes can be purchased which goes into the Group funds. Some members also bring books in to sell at minimal prices so you never know what you might come away with. We have members of all ages and are always looking to recruit more. A monthly Newsletter is emailed to all members and contributions to this are also welcomed.
